New Terms relating to audio files

Stereo:   It is a system for reproducing stereophonic sound.

Channel: A path over which electrical signals can pass.

Track: A distinct selection of music from a recording or a compact disc.

Frequency: The number of times a particular type of music or sound occurs.

Hertz: The unit of frequency; one hertz has a periodic interval of one second.

Decibel: It is a logarithmic unit of measurement that expresses the magnitude of a physcial quantity to a specified reference level.

WAV: It is short for Waveform Audio File Format, WAV is a Microsoft and IBM audio file format standard for storing an audio bitstream on PCs.
mp3: It is a common audio format for consumer audio storage,also a de facto standard of digital audio compression for the transfer and playback of music on digital audio players.
aiff: Short for Audio Interchange File Format, it is an audio filr format standard used for storing sound data on personal computers and other electronic audio devices.
